A new addition to the growing Schwinn “museum” at the Huntington Bicycle Shop showed up today! It is drop dead gorgeous. The Coppertone paint and contrasting chrome are outstanding and the original decals are nearly perfect. We put it on the stand and got it all shifting smoothly and braking properly; pumped up the tires and took it out for a ride. Even the generator powered headlight and taillight work. A five speed tandem with an expander hub rear brake with bow pedals and a teardrop S rear reflector is something I am proud to have. Special thanks to Doug B. for bringing it our way and allowing us to steward this beautiful bike for the next part of its journey.
Back in 1967, these sold new for $124.50 and came in two colors: Sky Blue and Coppertone.
