One of the premier fall events is the annual Huntington Veterans Day 5k run. Navy veteran Chris Shortridge and his hard working team set up this at the Huntington Armory and participants have the chance to run through Memorial Park past all the monuments erected to honor our veterans. Last year they unveiled the Marine Corps monument – a replica of the Iwo Jima statue in Arlington, VA. They are now raising funds to construct a Memorial to Korean War veterans, modeled after the one on the National Mall in Washington DC.
The Huntington Bike Shop is honored to be a sponsor of this event every year with the donation of a Pure Fitness Bike given away by a drawing of the names of participants.
