Just finished up this commissioned rehab of a Schwinn middleweight Starlet III from 1966. It came in pretty well used and needing attention. The original crankset had been replaced with a modern BMX crankset – solved that problem from our stash of Vintage Schwinn parts. The classic Schwinn bow pedals on it were shot – solved that problem from our stash of Vintage Schwinn parts. Took the bike completely apart down to the frame, degreased everything, de-rusted the chrome to the extent possible. Then we polished the paint, chrome and patina to a high gloss and put it all back together. Replaced and rebuilt the bent front axle and bearings, as well, we rebuilt the rear hub and coaster brake. Just for fun, I added some purple and white streamers to the original white Schwinn handlebar grips. We love taking old bikes and making them ride and (to the extent possible) look like new again.
